RLC Circuit

Interactive simulation of an RLC circuit that lets users explore the time evolution of electric charge, current, and the energy stored in the capacitor and inductor.

The circuit is described by a second-order linear differential equation for the charge on the capacitor. Its solution depends on the relationship among resistance, inductance, and capacitance: the underdamped, critically damped, and overdamped regimes correspond, respectively, to decaying oscillations, the fastest possible return without oscillation, and slow decay without oscillation.
